You know that feeling when you you're just overwhelmed with your business? Running in all different directions but not seeing results?

It can feel stagnant, but there’s hope! Small, incremental changes each day lead to progress over time (#atomichabits). Something that helps with that is a Business Plan.

A business plan is a document that has many sections for you to fill out, from marketing to your team to detailing the finances. It’s the blueprint of your amazing idea – and the specifics of how it will work.

There are dozens of reasons why you should have a business plan. Mostly it’s to prove your idea to yourself, and if applicable, to show potential investors that you’re serious.

Financially, it’s important to document your revenue model. It will help address assumptions made with the model more specifically: How is your business going to make money? And when will it make a profit? What does it cost for your business to run?

You’ll create an effective strategy for growth as well as determine your future financial needs. It gives you a roadmap that you can follow.

Even if it’s in rough draft mode, and you’re still working out the details – it’s still smart to use it as a checklist to circle back to and make sure that you’re on the right track. Even if you can't answer everything on here, answer what you can and give yourself a little homework on some others. It should work as a roadmap, helping your business in each one of its stages.
