Welcome to Finance Freebie Fridays where I provide a virtual open office hours for business CFO questions.

I try to suggest a weekly topic to get the ball rolling but ask anything. This week I want to talk about the difference between various accounting roles. While this is a generalization -

• Usually a bookkeeper focuses on data entry and various tasks related to checking on bills and invoices

• A CFO is still working on the business but takes the financial information and makes it usable for the business owners to make smart decisions

• A CPA/EA usually focuses in "compliance" or filing taxes annually. Sometimes they offer helpful advice at the beginning of the tax year so that the business can minimize their taxes by making the right moves ahead of time.
